Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari

Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari is a professional musician, Composer,Santoor player and performer based in Finland. Although she is a multi-instrumentalist, her principal instrument is Santoor, a traditional Persian Dulcimer capable of playing numerous folk modes and “Dastgâhs” which she has been playing for over 20 years and has been teaching for more than 10 years in top music institutes in Tehran. Her artistic aim is to make Iranian music known around the world. Mehrnoosh enjoys blending traditional sounds with contemporary influences. In addition, she is interested in global music and has worked on several projects.

A sensitive and versatile musician that loves to play, improvise and teach music. I am a viola player, classical music trained but open to play and teach other styles of music such as flamenco, jazz, latin, reggae, bossa nova…I am also a passionate of chamber music and ensemble playing including the classical string formations or any other non typical ensembles. My goal is to share my love to music to the students and also give them tools to express better with their body and instrument. I studied a master degree of Viola performance in Sibelius Academy with Teemu Kupiainen and Currently I’m based in Helsinki where I combine freelancing with developing my professional career with my string quartet “Arima Quartet”.
