One network, two kinds of places
World Music School is a community, not a single building. Some places provide a lasting base for WMS programmes. Others are independent venues that can welcome a teacher, workshop, rehearsal or gathering.
The WMS mission is shared. The role of each place is not the same. Hosting one WMS activity does not make a café or community venue a WMS operated school.
Our WMS Spaces
These are places where WMS has a dedicated base or is developing its own programme within a wider community project. The labels below describe the current stage of each space. Visits and activities depend on the local programme, not fixed public opening hours.

Our dedicated home for air guitar and air music, inside Gamified Cohousing Oulu. It brings together Airientation, performances, encounters and an international creative community.

Home and history
WMS AIR opened on 21 August 2024 as a permanent home for air guitar and air music at Gamified Cohousing Oulu, Lipporannantie 16, 90500 Oulu.
Why air guitar?
No instrument is needed. The school celebrates creativity, confidence, performance and the freedom to take part, from first time visitors to experienced air guitarists.
Activities and ways to participate
The AIR school presents air guitar masterclasses, air band workshops, competitions, theatrical performances, jam sessions and open stage events as part of its programme vision. Please contact WMS to check which activities are currently available.
Airientation and the Air Guitar World Championships
Airientation brings the international air guitar community together in Oulu. The dedicated school page preserves the 2025 event archive, photographs and location map.
Visits and accessibility
Arrange visits and activities with the team. There are stairs at the entrance and an accessible toilet inside; the building is not fully accessible.

Kannus · WMS Finland base in development
World Music School Kannus
Historic railway station, Asematie 6, Kannus, Finland
The association’s Finnish base is growing within the former railway station. The direction is music in daily community life, with rehearsals, workshops, small performances and artistic exchange as the programme develops.
Lalitpur · Nepal base in development
World Music School Nepal
Gamified Cohousing Lalitpur, Nepal
A cultural base within the Lalitpur community house, bringing music, local knowledge and international collaboration into shared daily life. Rehearsals, workshops, gatherings and performances shape its development.
Hyrsylän Koulu · Potential programme location
World Music School at Hyrsylän Koulu
Hyrsyläntie 169, Saukkola, Lohja area, Finland
A former school with a music and dance hall, surrounded by nature. We are exploring possibilities for community music, workshops, artist residencies and gatherings here. No recurring WMS programme is announced yet.
WMS Partner Places
Music can also happen in a café, library, studio, community room or another welcoming space. These are independent hosts, not WMS owned or WMS operated schools.
Our vision is for a WMS teacher and a local host to make lessons, informal practice, workshops and small performances possible closer to where people already meet. Each place should clearly identify who hosts the space and which activities are actually available.
We are developing this partner network and its connection with the WMS App. We are not yet presenting an unverified directory of partner venues.
For learners and musicians
Find musicians, discover new traditions and express your interest in learning or teaching. The WMS App is being developed to connect people and places. Please contact us to confirm current opportunities; live booking through the app is not yet announced.
For cafés and community hosts
Have a space that could welcome music? We would like to hear from cafés, local cultural groups, studios, libraries and other community hosts. Tell us where you are, what space you offer and what kinds of music activities could fit.
A partnership can start with a single event or grow into a regular programme. Being a WMS Partner Place is different from becoming a WMS programme base.
One mission, room for different places
We teach music as a language. Whether in Oulu, Kannus, Lalitpur, Hyrsylän Koulu or a future neighbourhood café, the aim is to give more people agency to learn, share traditions and make music together.
