International Partnerships
The World Music School Helsinki is supporting the International Carnaval of Ouidah in Benin, from the 28th till the 31st December 2023.
We are looking for experts on the following competences:
- Visual artists for exhibition and realization of mural fresco in Ouidah. December 22 to 31, 2023
- Carnival groups to participate in the Popular and artistic Carnival of the IOC. December 26 to 31, 2023
- Art photographers to photograph all IOC events. From December 26 to 31, 2023.
- Documentary directors to produce documentary films and training of young people. From December 26 to 31, 2023
- Singing artists to collaborate with Beninese and African artists. From December 26 to 31, 2023.
- Televisions and international media for a stay of cultural and worship report Vodun. December 27 to 31, 2023.
- Volunteers to help and work in the Carnival organizing committee. December 23 to 31, 2023.
- Financial and material partners (Associations, Foundation, Municipalities, companies, and patrons). From February to December 2023.

International Partnerships
The World Music School Helsinki’s chairman, Pedro Aibéo, visited this week the World Music School Porto and his Ambassador Ricardo Coelho.
At the headquarters of the WMS Porto, we watched a live music performance and discussed the ongoing projects, which include some really nice EU cultural calls. 🙂
International Partnerships, Monthly WMS events
We just signed a collaboration with the Kulttuurikameleontit ry.
This year we will produce together three events focused on African Folk, partly supported by Alli Paasikiven Säätiö.
The first of these will be at the World Village Festival: Africa goes South America on May 27th – 12:45 and 19:00 – at the World Village Festival, Kids’ Corner.
We invite you and your family to discover through dancing, drumming, and singing the connection between traditional African and Salsa rhythms. Expert musicians will be leading two workshops hosted by the warm and multicultural atmosphere of the World Village Festival.
The workshops are designed for families and will be a fun and interesting experience you will remember with joy. There will be drums available for you and your kids and you are of course welcome to bring yours.

Kulttuurikameleontit ry is a non-profit organisation that works against racism, enhances multiculturalism and diversity and the integration of immigrants through art.
All of the events organized by World Music School Helsinki aim to connect the local cultural minorities through music. www.worldmusic.school, we teach music as a mother language!
International Partnerships
The World Music School Helsinki just visited, for the second time, Italy, to continue the cooperation with the city of Rome.
We have been working to make a more pan-European cooperation among folk music related institutions, and to bring folk music to a wider audience. In this video you can see one of the planned locations (at Trajan’s Market) where one of the World Music School Roma events will eventually take place, if all goes well and if the European Union will conceded us a grant to kickstart it.
Another possibility for a venue, is at the polemic Museum of Ara Pacis, by Richard Meyer, a popular destination but certainly not the best of modern architectural solutions! 🙂
As an architect, I would have preferred the Pantheon, with its remarkable brick dome.
As usual, it is a delight to go to Italy. From the food at La prosciutteria Firenze, to the selfies paranoia at Castel Sant’Angelo or the wine tastings of the wonderful white wine Torrefavale 2015 from Campania. We hope that WMS Roma will become true soon!
